Major issues are facing our state and nation. As a result, there are calls for Prayer and Fasting as the issues of same-sex marriage and abortion are coming to New Mexico.
Gender-Confused Seeking Marriage in the State
The New Mexico Supreme Court is being asked to decide if same-sex marriage violates the constitution of the state even though references to “husband – wife” and “man – woman” can be are found.
On October 23, the New Mexico Supreme Court will consider oral arguments for same-sex marriages. Voices for Family Values (www.vffv.org) has called for prayer and fasting the day before, on Tuesday, October 22.
- Please note that individuals are allowed equal protection under the law but institutions are always discriminatory: we don’t let blind people drive and we don’t let people who won’t bear arms into our army. The institution of marriage is about families and families are about procreation.
Late Term Abortion in Albuquerque: Fetal Pain Initiative
Albuquerque, New Mexico, is known as the “late term abortion capitol of the Southwest.” Abortions can be performed up to the day of birth. Spearheaded by Albuquerque Deserves Better (www.abqdeservesbetter.com), a special election for Albuquerque residents will be held on November 19 limiting abortions to 20 weeks beyond conception.
- The ordinance is known as the “Fetal Pain” bill. It has been scientifically proven that a fetus experiences excruciating pain as body parts are torn from the fetus and removed from the uterus. The “Fetal Pain” bill limits abortion to 20 weeks or prior.
Sunday, November 3, has been proclaimed a “Day of Prayer” across the state for the unborn and for this issue. Priests and Pastors are urged to address this issue from the pulpit, and we are all urged to pray.
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
